Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar urges Zunheboto officials to develop skill development plan

Union Minister of State for Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Electronics, and Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, on Monday, asked the Zunheboto district administration to develop a skill development plan that maps local aspirations and creates opportunities for jobs and entrepreneurships.

“Our emphasis should be making optimum use of local resources and reduce migration to urban centres,” he said.

He stated this during his visit to Zunheboto district, the first Union minister to do so in a span of four decades.

The minister also urged the people to make government colleges part of the skill development plan for the youth, and create institutions as part of the ecosystem, an update informed.

In the agriculture and handicrafts sector, he suggested building connection with the market and scaling it. “Structural issues should be looked at by the state government, try to connect the entrepreneurs to the market, and create an atmosphere for the investors,” he said.

The minister also reviewed the implementation of centrally-sponsored schemes and urged the functionaries to work until the last mile is covered.

During a meeting with the heads of offices, Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, gave a powerpoint presentation on Zunheboto district, where he highlighted the agriculture sector, electricity, lack of IT infrastructures, MSME, etc. He also highlighted the ongoing schemes in the district, it said.

Chandrasekhar also held meetings with BJP leaders and karyakartas, and shared them the vision of the prime minister for a new India based on Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prasad.

“On such occasions, I feel truly proud and privileged to be a minister in the Modi government—playing a small role in his vision of transforming lives—Sabka Saath Sabka Vishwas,” the minister said in a tweet.

He later visited the Sumi Baptist Church in Zunheboto, which is considered to be one of the largest church buildings in Asia, and offered prayers.

Addressing the mammoth gathering of BJP supporters from various villages under 38 AC Wokha and BJP party workers from the district and state at Longsa village public ground under Wokha district, Chandrasekhar said though the pandemic struck hard, it prepared India in fighting and overcoming the disease through the leadership of Modi by providing free vaccines and medical facilities throughout the country. He said the BJP ideology is to build ‘a stronger India, a new India, and better India’ for all Indians.

The minister stated that the country has drastically changed through various schemes and programmes, adding that change in India is about financial independence and equal opportunity to all sections of society.

Meanwhile, he lauded the party workers from the district and state for the warm welcome.

Mmhonlumo Kikon, advisor of New and Renewable Energy (NRE), IT and C, Science and Technology, in his short speech appreciated Rajeev Chandrasekhar for visiting the district, saying that no union minister has visited the district before.

He also lauded the people of Longsa village for forwarding their leaders with BJP tickets in the past when the state and the people were against the party. He also said that Wokha district, known as the land of plenty, has been contributing much revenue to the government exchequer, stating that  ‘the district may not be receiving enough but Lothas, as generous people, have been contributing to Nagaland and the Nagas with our resources’.

He said that oil is found aplenty in the district under Changpang block, adding that under the leadership of the prime minister, talks are going on between the governments of India and Nagaland. He assured the gathering that the BJP will form the government at the Centre again in 2024, adding that Nagaland will be benefitted more in the years to come.
