Kohima, Jan. 4 (EMN): MLA Dr. Chotisuh Sazo said the present UDA government headed by Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, is trying its best to facilitate the Naga political issue.

Dr. Sazo said in the 11th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) session, all 60 legislators led by the chief minister met the Prime Minister, Home minister and other union ministers and requested the central leaders to bring about an early solution to the Naga issue.

Inaugurating the new water supply project at Khulazu Bawe village in Phek district on December 31, Sazo also said even in the 12th house of NLA when he was the then Speaker, the PWC went two times to Delhi and met the Prime Minister, Home minister and other union ministers and leaders of various national political parties.

In the present 13th house, he said under the leadership of Rio, the Parliamentary Committee on Naga Political Issue was formed with all 60 legislators and two MPs, out of which a core committee consisting of political parties, tribes and MPs have had several meetings with different groups of Naga political groups and Government of India representatives and Union Home minister.

“However, since we (legislators) are only a facilitator, the final settlement or solution depends on GoI and the negotiating parties,” Sazo said.

He also disclosed that if solution does not come as expected, then the state general election to the 14th house of NLA will be held in time along with other states, which is likely to be held in the last part of February or first week of March 2023.

“It is important to choose the right leader and the right party, which will form the government, to speak and work for the people,” he said.

Stating that vote is precious, he told the villagers to vote consciously and “not to sell your vote, which is your right.”

Sazo further said that God willing, Rio will form NDPP-led government again and described Rio as the “undisputed leader.”

Meanwhile, Sazo thanked the PHED and WATSAN for their efforts in completing the new water supply project at Khulazu Bawe village, which was constructed under Jal Jeevan Mission.

He also lauded EE (PHED) Phek and his team for timely completion of the project.

Executive engineer (PHED) Phek, Vikusa Khape, in his address, told the villagers to make the best use of the facility.
