KOHIMA — The executive secretary of Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), Rev. Dr. Rachülie Vihienuo, insisted on imparting the gospel of Christ to children starting from home in order to further the cause of winning lost souls.

Rev. Vihienuo stated this in his message on Sunday morning service marking the golden jubilee celebration of the Union Baptist Church (UBC) held at the NBCC Convention Centre in Kohima. Rev. Vihienuo urged the gathering to impart the gospel of Christ to their children beginning at home in order to pass on the legacy from generation to generation.

He stated that UBC Kohima, which was established in 1973, has bore witness to the power of the gospel that transcended all brokenness.

Delivering his sermon based on Ephesians 2:11-22 of the Bible, Rev. Vihienuo hailed the power of the gospel of Christ, which has delivered mankind from the bondage of worldly desires and brought back dead souls to life for those who believed in Him.

The speaker stressed the need for everyone to receive forgiveness and the necessity of encountering God as a community and individually to receive salvation and life.

Pointing out that the gospel should start from home for the upbringing of children, he stated that its spread should not be limited but extended reach out to everyone. He also emphasised the need for reconciliation to foster a sense of community.

He further challenged the gathering to pray for the persecuted and live a spirit-filled life in the likeness of Christ, creating a community where God dwells.

In his greetings, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, general secretary of NBCC, said, “We are what we are today because of those who stood their ground and gave their legacy of faith.” He recalled that the pioneers of UBC were led by God to start the church.

As the members celebrate the golden jubilee, he urged them to renew their spirits and commitment and pass the legacy of faith to future generations to enable them to celebrate God’s faithfulness.

The scripture was read by Dr. Dietho-o Yhoshü, and the call to worship was led by Dziesengunuo Chadi, assistant pastor of Children’s Ministry at Union Baptist Church. The prayer of commitment and benediction was led by Diezenino Phizo, associate pastor of Union Baptist Church, while an invocation prayer was said by Rev. Kenilevi Khate, former pastor of Union Baptist Church.

A special presentation was made by UBC Sunday School and a song was performed by ‘The Beginners,’ a group of elders who started their youth journey at UBC. Choral pieces were presented by Lighthouse (UBKK) and jubilee choir respectively.

DK Zeliang, the lone survivor out of the 10 founding members, was felicitated on the occasion.

Dr. Kethoser Kevichusa, itinerant evangelist and Bible teacher, was the speaker of the evening service.
