Kohima administration issues travel advisory for NH-2 near Phesama sinking zone amid falling boulders, debris and persistent monsoon rains.
DIMAPUR — Amid continuing monsoon rains and recurring landslides across Nagaland, the Kohima district administration has issued a travel advisory for commuters using the Kohima-Mao section of National Highway-2, warning of falling boulders and debris at the vulnerable Phesama sinking zone.
According to a DIPR update, the district administration issued the advisory following reports of intermittent rockfalls and debris from adjoining hill slopes along the affected stretch between Chainage Km 191+840 and Km 192+100.
Motorists have been urged to exercise maximum caution while travelling through the affected section and to avoid non-essential travel during periods of heavy rainfall and inclement weather.
The district administration has also discouraged travel through the sinking zone during night hours owing to safety concerns.
Commuters have been requested to strictly follow the instructions of personnel deployed at the site for traffic regulation and monitoring until conditions improve.
