Three from Nagaland win medals at international sepaktakraw tournament

Kohima, Aug. 1 (EMN): Adding another feather to the Nagaland sports fraternity, three athletes from the state won medals at the 35th edition of the Kings World Cup, an international sepaktakraw tournament, at Bangkok held from July 23 to the 31st.
State Junior Sports Coach (Sepaktakraw), Holshe Khrieo told Eastern Mirror that Viseyie Koso, from DGP sports team, and representing India, won gold in the men’s Regu event.
Akumtila and Sezovelu Dozo from the department of Youth resources and Sports, Nagaland Girls Academy, Dimapur won bronze in the Hook Takraw event.
On this achievement, the coach expressed delight and said, “This is a great achievement, before we never get a gold medal.”
He informed that the three players were preparing for Asian Games, which was supposed to be held in China this year but was postponed to next year owing to the COVID situation.
The players were said to have been in the Indian camp for five months together in Goa and they went straight to the Kings World Cup at Bangkok.
Meanwhile, Khrieo acknowledged the support of the Government of Nagaland and the department of Youth Resources and Sports.
Further, he also informed that the players will be received on Wednesday (August 3) morning at Dimapur Airport, wherein the medal winners will be felicitated.
