Thenyizu, March 10 (EMN): Thenyizu village in Phek district organised a felicitation-cum-thanksgiving programme at the village panchayat hall on Thursday. The event was organised to felicitate Zhothisa Dawhuo, director of State Lotteries; Vahine Thisa, director of Treasuries and Accounts; Mhaseto Nakro, director of Technical Education; Avezo Kevin Kapu, president of Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU); and Venuzo Dawhuo, reigning champion of Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA).
Speaking at the programme, Dawhuo exhorted the Thenyizumi community to be humble and meek to prosper. He also advised the people to propagate unity, be more courteous, live a life of humility, have willingness to help one another, be selfless and love one another.
He further stressed on the need for taking up vocational activity like gardening besides rice cultivation to improve the economy and develop.
Also speaking on the occasion, Vahine Thisa pointed out the need to have an action plan and urged concern for posterity. She also urged the community to be prayerful, encourage one another, and to respect leaders and elders.
She advised to avoid criticism but give constructive suggestions and live in unity. She further exhorted the village to put God first and live in humility, be disciplined, and work hard to excel in all professions.
Meanwhile, Mhaseto Nakro has advised the parents and students to pursue quality education. Nakro also enlightened on the New Education Policy (NEP), which would be implemented soon in the state.
Avezo Kevin Kapu has emphasised on the need to strengthen human resource development for a society to progress, while Venuzo Dawhuo has acknowledged all those who have blessed and helped him in his career.
In his welcome address, the village council chairman, Medothi Rhakho informed that there are four directors in the government department from Chakhesang community out of which three were from Thenyizu village. He expressed happiness on the recent achievements of the village.
The thanksgiving prayer was offered by Thepuzhoyi Theyo, pastor of TBC, and a prayer was also said by Theduseyi Poru, catechist of TCC.
