Kohima, April 24 (EMN): Newly elected members of the Thenyizumi Village Council (TVC) in Phek district have pledged to uphold integrity and accountability while discharging their assigned duty for the overall development and progress of the area.
The members took the vow during the installation programme held at the village community hall on Saturday. The new team for the tenure 2021-25 is headed by Medothi Rhakho as the new village council chairman.
Speaking at the installation programme, principal of Kelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) and member of Planning and Vision Cell (PVC) Thenyizumi, Mhaseto Nakro exhorted the leaders to cohesively work for the welfare and progress of the village and exuded confidence that the new team would lift the village to a new heights. He also congratulated the outgoing village council members for their efforts and contributions made towards the progress of the village.
Also speaking at the event, pastor of Thenyizumi Baptist Church (TBC), Thepuzhoyi Theyo, dwelled on biblical leadership taking the example of Nehemiah from the Bible. He told the new village leaders to be God fearing and maintain unity. The pastor also told the citizens of Thenyizumi to continue the unity of the village and embrace one another as brothers in Christ.
Theyo also exhorted the leaders to be facilitators of development that would create a gateway for progress and development in the village. The pastor further led the church leaders in offering the dedicatory prayer for the new team of village leaders.
In his introductory note, the convenor of planning and vision cell (PVC) Chisazo Dawhuo said the installation of a new team of village council was necessitated owing to the expiry of the incumbent team according to the Nagaland Village Council Act.
It may be mentioned that PVC is a think-tank of the affairs and development of the village as an autonomous body that offers critical analysis and advice for the welfare and benefit of the village. It functions as a watch-dog in the functioning of the village activities based on Thenyizumi Citizenship Day resolution adopted on December 30, 2015.
Besides Medothi Rhakho as the village council chairman, the other officials included Thepukrayi Nienu as village council secretary and Cekrokhoyi Kezo as VDB secretary.
Officials of the sub-committees included C Krongoyi Theyo as chairman of village education committee (VEC), Kenecuyi Dawhuo as chairman of village health committee (VHC), Vekhruzo Thisa as chairman of village power committee (electricity), Kethoswu Dawhuo as chairman of Watsan committee.
