Tetso College ranks 198th nationally in the India Today-MDRA Best Colleges Survey 2026, becoming Nagaland's only entrant.
KOHIMA — Tetso College has secured All India Rank 198 in the India Today-MDRA Best Colleges Survey 2026 under the Top Bachelor of Arts (BA) Colleges in India category, marking a significant achievement for the institution and placing Nagaland on the national higher education map.
The Chümoukedima-based college features among the country's leading undergraduate institutions in a survey that assessed colleges across multiple academic and institutional parameters.
It is also the only college from Nagaland to feature in the rankings.
The 2026 rankings were topped by Hindu College, followed by Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Kirori Mal College, Hansraj College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Loyola College, Madras Christian College, Sri Venkateswara College and SVKM's Mithibai College of Arts, Chauhan Institute of Science & Amrutben Jivanlal College of Commerce and Economics in the Top 10 list of 203 listed in Art colleges.
According to the rankings, Tetso College recorded an Objective Score (OB) of 425.8, comprising 98.4 in Intake Quality and Governance (IQG), 121.6 in Academic Excellence (ACE), 84.0 in Infrastructure and Living Experience (ILE), 86.6 in Personality and Leadership Development (PLD), and 35.2 in Placement and Career Progression (PCP).
The India Today-MDRA survey evaluates institutions on five broad parameters—intake quality and governance, academic excellence, infrastructure and living experience, personality and leadership development, and placement and career progression.
The overall objective score is supplemented by a perceptual survey conducted among faculty members, students and recruiters.

Reacting to the achievement, Tetso College described the ranking as a proud moment not only for the institution but also for Nagaland.
"Nagaland on the national stage," the college stated while expressing gratitude to its students, parents, alumni, the Government of Nagaland and Nagaland University for their continued support.
"This milestone is yours as much as ours," the college said, acknowledging the collective efforts of all stakeholders in achieving the national recognition.
Meanwhile, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Abu Metha, congratulated Tetso College on its achievement, describing the recognition as a proud milestone not only for the institution but for Nagaland as well.
Writing on X, Metha said the college's inclusion among the Top 200 Bachelor of Arts colleges in India in the India Today Best Colleges of India 2026 Rankings, selected from more than 45,000 colleges across the country, reaffirmed that Nagaland is steadily emerging as a destination for quality education and academic excellence.
He said Tetso College has consistently distinguished itself as one of the most progressive and forward-looking educational institutions in the region.
