KOHIMA — Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, called upon the principals of the government colleges to envision and curate the future of Nagaland, to be inclusive in the channel of development and empowerment, saying “The state and its people can only prosper if the right human resources are developed.”

Temjen Imna Along stated this during the annual conference of the government colleges’ principals under Higher Education department on October 19 at the Directorate of Higher Education in Kohima.

Temjen Imna Along, who was the guest of honour, challenged the principals and teachers to build the community to be not only literate but to be educated. He maintained that among the many professions and great personalities, teachers are the greatest influencers and they have the power to mould, curate and envision in making a good society, a good family, a good state and a prosperous nation.

Stating that there are some things which require money to get done and also there are some which can be done through other forms, he urged the principals to connect and work together with the community.

The minister also handed over certificates of appreciation to five mentor colleges namely Kohima Science College in Jotsoma, Kohima College, Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung, Dimapur Government College and Patkai Christian College in Dimapur for successfully mentoring the concerned colleges for NAAC assessment and accreditation in the state.

The inaugural session was chaired by the director of Higher Education, Dr. A Nshoga, while the welcome address was delivered by additional director, Dr. K Nishena Nekha. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Menuokholie Kire, joint director (administration) of Higher Education.
