TaFMA announces ‘The Voice of Nagaland’ and ‘Excellence Award’

KOHIMA — The Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) on Tuesday announced two major initiatives — TaFMA Excellence Awards and The Voice of Nagaland — which have been the vision of Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio towards promoting the youth of the state.

This was announced during a press conference held at RCEMPA Phezhu Jotsoma addressed by Abu Metha Advisor to Chief Minister and Chairman of IDAN alongwith Chairman of TaFMA Theja Meru, CEO of Okusa Toyota, Hokugha Yeptho and Project Director of TaFMA Dr. Hovithal Sothu.

Metha while maintaining that the two initiatives have been the vision of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, informed that Toyota company has agreed to sponsor two cars to be given away as prize for top winners.

Speaking about The Voice of Nagaland, he said that it is a platform open to all artistes of the state – solo, duos, vocal groups, choirs and all music genres in any language – English, Hindi, Nagamese and Local dialects.

The Voice of Nagaland is scheduled to take place from September while there will be several other categories.

As for TaFMA Excellence Award, he said it is an initiative to award the youths who are pursuing and achieving excellence in their respective fields at national and international levels.

He informed that the announcement was already made where the board for selection led by the TaFMA Project Director is screening the applications.

The Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio is expected to hand over the TaFMA Excellence Award.

Metha further informed that Toyota was the primary sponsor of last year’s Hornbill Music Festival and will also be presenting this year’s Hornbill Music Festival 2023, which is one of India’s biggest music events.

He informed that the sponsorship of two cars for the top winners of TaFMA Excellence Awards and The Voice of Nagaland and this year’s Hornbill Music Festival 2023 will come to approximately INR 50 Lakh while exuding hope that the opportunity will continue to grow and boost the initiative of the state.

Further, he remarked that musicians are the cultural ambassadors of the state and are pushing the soft power of the state to various platforms and parts of the countries and the world.

Meanwhile CEO of Okusa Toyota, Hokugha Yeptho acknowledged TaFMA and the state government for giving the opportunity to partner with the Hornbill Festival.

He maintained that Toyota is concerned and focusing towards the Northeast while informing that the company has come up with stock cars and parts stocks in Guwahati which can now be easily accessible for customers in few days times.
