Taekwondo: Wokha lift U-14 Catch them Young Tournament title

KOHIMA— Wokha district emerged overall champions of the 14th edition of the State level U-14 Catch them Young Tournament (Taekwondo) held at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) Kohima.

The champion team won four gold medals and a bronze to win the title, while Chümoukedima with three gold and a silver were placed runner-up.

Around 150 participants from 15 districts competed in the two-day event, which culminated on Friday.

Development Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Law and Justice, R Ramakrishnan, the special guest of the closing ceremony, in his address recalled how taekwondo was introduced in the state of Nagaland.

Ramakrishnan lauded the department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) for its effort in rendering support and grooming the players all these years. He also appreciated the parents for allowing their children to play the sports.

Further, he exuded hope that the collective efforts will push the players to achieve national and international medals in the near future.

The progarmme was chaired by Director of YRS Kethosituo Sekhose.
