Asalie Peseyie is the brain behind “Dapper”, one of the chicest stores in Nagaland, exclusively for men.
Asalie asserts that Shopping for men in Nagaland is not a pleasure due the limited selection that is available. But in “Dapper” men can walk into our store avail our services and walk out looking Dapper”.
Read on to learn about Asalie’s exciting plans!
EASTERN MIRROR: What inspired you to start Dapper?
Asalie Peseyie: I always felt there was a viable market for a store like Dapper. I would say personal experiences inspired me into deciding to start up this venture. Shopping for men here at home is not such a pleasure for the limited selection that is available to us. The salon part of the store was something I always felt men here needed an exclusive place to get groomed and pampered. So instead of opening two separate stores and also since both sections complement each other, I decided on merging both under one roof and making it Dapper.
EASTERN MIRROR: How did you settle on the name ‘Dapper’?
Asalie Peseyie: Dapper was always going to be the name of the store. It’s almost like we built the store around the name. It’s our hope that men can walk into our store avail our services and walk out looking “Dapper”.
EASTERN MIRROR: DAPPER is only for men. Why?
Asalie Peseyie: Like I mentioned earlier, there has always been an unfair balance in the shopping realm for men and women. It’s great to know that women have the abundance of choice when it comes to shopping and salons. So with that being said, it was really a no brainer when it came to deciding to make Dapper into an exclusive men’s store.
EASTERN MIRROR: Have you learned any personal lessons since you launched Dapper?
Asalie Peseyie: More than the income, I think the lessons are flowing in. But on a serious note, everyday is a challenge and we are looking to build on them and turn all mistakes into learning experiences.
EASTERN MIRROR: What’s your vision for Dapper?
Asalie Peseyie: As you know, we have a number of Naga designers who are retailing through us and we are planning to add more. We are also excited to be launching KOA men’s products in Nagaland very soon and there are many more interesting projects in the pipeline for Dapper which we are working on. Will keep you all updated. Thank you.
