President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), K Therie, said people of Nagaland are ‘helpless’ as there is no one representing the public in the state assembly, and that they must realise the need for a strong opposition to have a corrupt-free government in the state.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan in Dimapur on Wednesday, Therie claimed that Dimapur has been beaten “black and blue” by the government and it has also robbed the pockets of the citizens and business community, citing poor road conditions despite being the highest contributor in terms of tax.
He said the state Congress had staged a sit-in a couple of years ago, protesting the deplorable road condition along GS road (Dhobinala) in Dimapur but no work has been done despite assuring to address the issue.
She stated law and order has collapsed, claiming that the authorities usually register kidnapping cases, wherein victims have to pay heavy ransom, as ‘by an unknown person’, and the matter ends there.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=6]On this, he assured that the Congress will restore governance where only lawful and legal taxes are allowed -- one government one tax.
‘There is no deviation, but we will implement that commitment to our people,’ he stated.
He also stressed on the Congress election manifesto such as its promise to ensure 10, 000 micro, small and medium enterprises in the state if voted to power; taking up Dhansiri and Chathe river embankment, addressing traffic issues, and others.
Rajesh Kumar Sethi, General Secretary Enrolment, NPCC, further said he was expecting Congress ticket for Dimapur-I but decided to support Therie when he approached him for the seat, considering the need for a strong leader who can bring development to the constituency.
