DIMAPUR — The Saptiqa Area Students’ Union (STKK) has served 14 days ultimatum to the School Education department to deploy Science and Mathematics teachers at Government High School (GHS) in Saptiqa and the Government Middle School (GMS) in Usutomi and cautioned that failure to comply with its demand would compel the union to take up democratic measures against the inaction of the department concerned.

The ultimatum was served following its consultative meeting held on August 20, wherein the union thoroughly discussed the letter forwarded to the principal director of School Education dated June 21, 2022, and June 27, 2023, through the district education officer of Zunheboto.

In a representation to the principal director of School Education, the union stated that the lone Government High School in Saptiqa and the Government Middle School in Usutomi have been functioning without Science and Mathematics teachers for the past two years. It added that the repeated appeals made to the department to either 'Revoke the transfer of teachers with post' or 'Replace the teachers on their stead,' were turned to deaf ears by the department.

In light of the above stated circumstance, the union urged the department to immediately redress its demand within 14 working days with effect from the date of communication, failing which it cautioned that the union would be compelled to take up democratic measures against the inaction of the department concerned.
