DIMAPUR — The Seyochung Area Students’ Union (SASU) held a peaceful rally in Seyochung town on August 21 in protest against non-deployment of medical officer at community health centre (CHC), Seyochung.

The union also submitted a representation to the principal director of Health and Family Welfare through the SDO  and ADC in-charge of Seyochung.

In the representation, the union has referred to its first letter dated May 8, 2023, urging the concerned department to deploy a medical officer at CHC Seyochung against the previous office, who was transferred in October 2022.

With no positive response, it stated that the union had called a press conference on August 4 and decided to serve an ultimatum of 15 days, which subsequently went unheeded even after the stipulated period.

The representation jointly appended by its president, T Thinglise, and the executive chairman, Lichumse, stated that the indifferent attitude of the concerned department has necessitated the union to proceed with the agitation.

It has sought the intervention of the principal director into the issue without further delay. It further warned that failure to address the grievance within ten days from the date of submission would compel the union to escalate the agitation to more extreme level.
