Seyiejalie Gwirie is champion of Western Angami Youth Organisation’s wrestling meet
KOHIMA — Twenty-nine-year old Seyiejalie Gwirie from Jotsoma village emerged new champion of the Western Angami Youth Organisation’s 60th wrestling meet at Jotsoma local ground on Friday evening.
Weighing 80 kg, Gwirie took down Rokolhouto Suokhrie (85 kg) in the final to win the championship title, for which he was awarded a cash prize of INR 90,000.
First runner-up Suokhrie (27), also from Jotsoma village, received INR INR 60,000, while third position holder Thejapfütuo Chüsi (21) and fourth place winner Rokuokehie Khawakhrie (26), both from Mezoma village, received INR 40,000 and INR 30,000 respectively.
A total of 60 wrestlers participated in the 60th wrestling meet of WAYO.
It may be mentioned that the wrestling bouts were delayed due to the rain and storm, following which the final and semi-finals matches were played after 8 pm.
President of Naga Club Kuolachalie Seyie was the chief guest of the occasion and Kepelhoutuo Chüsi, president of Western Angami Public Organisation, was the special guest.
