Khrielabeituo Semou is wrestling champion at NAYSA sports meet

KOHIMA — Khrielabeituo Semou of Nerhe-Model village was declared champion in wrestling at the 33rd annual sports meet of the Northern Angami Youth and Sports Association (NAYSA) group-C held in Tsiesema Basa village on Thursday.

He received INR 30,000 cash prize for winning the tile, while the second and third position holders — Kekhriesizo Merhieso and Thejavizo Merhieso – who are brothers from Nerhe-Model village were awarded with INR 20,000 and INR 15,000 respectively. Khriesangutuo Khoubve of Zhadima village came in the fourth position, for which he received INR 10,000.

A total of seven villages including Nerhema, Nerhe-Model, Zhadima, Tsiesema Basa, Meriema, Phekerkriezou and Viphoma participated in the sports meet.

Nerhe-Model village secured the highest point wih 48, followed by Zhadima village with 43 points and Meriema village with 32 points.

Block Development Officer, RD Block, Chiephobozou, Seyiekhrielie Rio, who was the special guest of the inaugural programme, encouraged the gathering to uphold the brotherhood between village, saying that sports unites people.

The officer further called upon the NAYSA to aim at producing players who can participate at the national and international levels.

Treasurer of Nagaland Amateur Boxing Association, Khrielievio Yhor, was the guest of honour for the event, while Assistant Wrestling Secretary of NAYSA-C, Sedevi Khrabvü, administered the oath taking ceremony.
