Senior Men’s Inter-District One Day Tournament: Wins for Dimapur, Chümou

DIMAPUR — The ongoing Senior Men’s Inter-District One Day Tournament 2024 witnessed two thrilling encounters on Saturday, with Dimapur and Chümoukedima emerging victorious in their respective matches.

In the match at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Dimapur displayed an outstanding performance, outclassing Kohima by eight wickets.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Kohima struggled against the relentless bowling attack, managing only 98 runs for the loss of all their wickets in 38.1 overs. Imomenba’s valiant 20 off 75 deliveries was the highest score for Kohima.

Sanjay Shiva dismantled Kohima’s batting lineup with an exceptional five-wicket haul, conceding just 30 runs. Hem also chipped in with three wickets for 18 runs.

In response, Ozukum’s blistering 59 not out off 34 balls propelled Dimapur to the victory target of 99 in just 13.2 overs, losing only two wickets. Sanjay Shiva was adjudged Player of the Match.

In the match played at the Sovima Cricket Ground, Chümoukedima showcased their batting prowess, overpowering Wokha by seven wickets.

Batting first, Wokha managed a total of 155/9 in their allotted 50 overs, thanks to Nchumbemo Humtsoe’s gritty 58 off 95 deliveries. For Chümoukedima, Neizekho Rupreo claimed two wickets, conceding 22 runs.

Chümoukedima’s batsmen took charge from the onset, with Jonathan Rongsen and Sede leading the charge. Rongsen’s blistering 64 off 60 balls, coupled with Sede’s unbeaten 63 off 77 deliveries, took Chümoukedima to the target of 158 in just 28.5 overs.

C Abemo Kikon was the lone wicket-taker for Wokha, picking up 1/17.

Jonathan Rongsen was named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
