Inter-District One Day Tournament: Niuland, Dimapur register wins

DIMAPUR — Wokha took on Niuland in the ongoing Senior Men’s Inter-District One Day Tournament at Sovima Cricket Ground, on Friday.

According to update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), Wokha managing only 97 runs in 32.4 overs, with Nzanthung Mozhiu top-scoring with 30 runs. Vino G Zhimomi ripped through the batting line-up of Wokha, claiming four wickets for just 21 runs, which earned him the Player of the Match title.

Chasing a low target, Niuland reached the target comfortably in just 18.1 overs, reaching 103 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Vayu Haralu scored a half century (54 runs not out) for the team.

Niuland defeated Wokha by seven wickets.

In the second match of the day played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Dimapur defeated Mokokchung by 77 runs.

Dimapur posted a competitive total of 208 runs in 42.2 overs, with Hem Bahadur scoring 39 runs, Joshua Ben Ozukum 37 and Shamphri Terang 33.

Chasing a huge total, Mokokchung were bowled out for just 131 runs in 36.1 overs, with Merenkaba Jamir top-scoring with 34 runs and Champo 18 runs.

Hem Bahadur was awarded Player of the Match title for his score 39 runs and two wickets for just 14 runs.

Boy’s U-16 Inter-District Tournament

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Mokokchung scored 114 runs in the first innings against at Imkonmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung, while Wokha were bowled out for just 75 in the first innings.

Mokokchung also faltered in the second innings, scoring only 51 runs. Needing 90 runs to win, Wokha fought hard but fell short of a victory, managing to score only 76 runs.

Mokokchung won the match by 14 runs.
