Our Correspondent
Kohima, Dec. 15 (EMN):
In a candid statement, pastor of Kohima Ao Baptist Arogo (KABA) Temjen Sempo said a selfish society could never progress and added that an individual alone would progress without the society as a whole.

He said this while addressing the advent Christmas-cum-felicitation of best traffic award 2021 of the Nagaland Contractor and Suppliers Union (NCSU) held at Hotel Japfü in Kohima on Wednesday.

While lamenting the pursuit for materialistic aggrandisement without any compunction in the present society, he termed it unfortunate that the Nagas are not spared in any sphere. He also pointed out the Naga society is plagued with selfishness and ‘ism’ thereby failing to rise above oneself.

He was of the view that people don’t want to be givers but only want to be receivers and depended only on the government. He added that people even expected the church to open up employment opportunities for the youth in the form of schools, industry, printing press and others.

He said the coming of Christ must change the people and live a life with the message from John 3:16. He stated that Nagas, who profess to be Christians, should live in the likeness of Jesus Christ by following His steps and be a giver like God.

He further urged the people to let Christmas be a time of giving to the people.

A short speech was delivered by the secretary of Work and Housing, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, wherein he appealed to the NCSU not only to be money-minded alone but be accountable in their work while delivering to the people.

NCSU general secretary, John Kath said Christmas is a time for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, who came to redeem the people.

Senior superintendent of police, Kevithuto Sophie, thanked the NCSU for constituting the best traffic award to acknowledge the traffic personnel. He told the traffic personnel and officers that their hard work does not go in vain with the encouragement of the NCSU and added that they should keep it in mind and give more efforts to deliver their service to the people.

He further extended greetings to the NCSU and urged them to reach out further to the needy.

A song was presented by Khriesakuonuo Rutsa, while the welcome address was delivered by the NCSU secretary, Hosheto Assumi and the programme was chaired by its secretary, N Neilo Koza.

Best Traffic Award 2021

On the occasion, the best traffic award 2021 were conferred to Lance Naik Temjensangla and Lance Naik Kevimenuo Sopfü from North Traffic Control and Tsito Yhoshu from South Traffic Control. They were felicitated with a cash award of INR 10,000 each with citation.
