Sarma was sworn in amid a high-profile gathering of NDA leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from several BJP-ruled states.
The BJP-led NDA returned to power in Assam for a third consecutive term following its victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections, with Sarma becoming the first non-Congress leader in the state to secure a second consecutive term as chief minister.
