Eastern Mirror: How would you like to introduce yourself to our readers?

Bozio Nienü: My name is Bozio Nienü, I am a singer and songwriter based in Kohima, Nagaland.

Eastern Mirror: How did you get into music? Can you take us through your musical journey?

Bozio Nienü: I was introduced to singing and music at a very young age through my parents and church participations. My love for music has always been there for as long as I can remember, and though I was never formally trained, it was my passion in music that pushed me towards a musical journey and career that I so love and enjoy. I released my debut single “Be The Change” in 2017, and since then I have been working on and releasing my original songs as well as covers on YouTube and other streaming platforms, with so many others on the way.

Eastern Mirror: What is your last music video “Lighthouse” all about? What’s the Inspiration behind it?

Bozio Nienü: LIGHTHOUSE is a song that talks about a ‘happy place’, which can be a memory or a thought, an idea, a concept, a person, a song or anything (depending on each person) that evokes or brings peace and calm. This song is very special for me and it came together because I wanted to write something that is personal yet relatable by most, simple yet thought-provoking and minimal in production yet idyllic and wholesome to listen to.

Eastern Mirror: Did you expect Lighthouse to win at the 13th edition of Music Awards of Nagaland? How do you feel?

Bozio Nienü: Expect? No. Maybe. Idk. But it’s always great when something you’ve worked sincerely and gets acknowledged and recognised, and I Praise God for it.

Eastern Mirror: What are your inspirations while writing lyrics?

Bozio Nienü: It depends. But mostly for me, a personal experience mixed with an emotion I feel towards that experience and my mood when I’m writing that song is what becomes of the song.

Eastern Mirror: Apart from singing, what else interests you?

Bozio Nienü: I am passionate about football and my club Bayern, and I also really enjoy wood carving and wood works.

Eastern Mirror: What do you wish to communication through your songs?

Bozio Nienü: Honestly, I believe in the power of music to change the world and I like to base my songs off of that belief, in positivity and hope.

Eastern Mirror: What is the biggest challenge for you as an artiste?

Bozio Nienü: The biggest challenge as of now would be creating and bringing life to a song and producing them in a way I imagine it to be, from the sounds to the visuals. The limitations in financial and creative imagination have always been a major challenge.

Eastern Mirror: How has the pandemic affected you and your music career?

Bozio Nienü: The pandemic and the rightful restrictions on social gatherings have doused some fires in me, and quite a number of projects got delayed and postponed. But things are starting to look up and I’ve already played a number of live shows and the thrill of playing live music is back and I look forward to my upcoming gigs.

Eastern Mirror: Any upcoming projects that listeners can look out for?

Bozio Nienü: So many! There are multiple projects I’m working on right now which are so exciting; I can’t wait to let you be a part of it!

Eastern Mirror: Any messages to your well-wishers?

Bozio Nienü: Just a word of gratitude. Thank you, for your constant support and encouragement. I hope you look forward to my upcoming releases
