Kohima, Sep. 20 (EMN): Nagaland minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, informed that five community health centres (CHC) in the newly created districts are in the process of upgradation to a district hospital besides the existing eleven district hospitals in Nagaland.

Pangnyu disclosed this while replying to Kuzholuzo Nienu during an unstarred question on the first day of the 12th session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima on Tuesday.

Pangnyu also informed that not all the district hospitals are treated as trauma centres except five designated trauma centres namely DH Mon, DH Tuensang, DH Kiphire, DH Dimapur and Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK). He stated that out of the five designated trauma centres, 80% of the construction work at NHAK has been completed while the civil works at District Hospital Dimapur has been completed and awaiting installation of equipment.

“The remaining district hospitals have emergency rooms dealing with trauma cases,” the minister said.

The Health minister also informed that there are four dialysis centres in the state namely at NHAK, Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital in Mokokchung, District Hospital Dimapur, and District Hospital Tuensang and added that all district hospitals have diagnosis centres.

Pangnyu further informed that there are laid down criteria or parameters, rules and regulations for opening of hospitals, healthcare centres and clinics under the Nagaland Healthcare Establishments Act 1997.
