DIMAPUR — Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur, observed ‘Elders Day’ to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of the institute’s founder, Lt. Manik Bhattacharjee, at its premises on Tuesday.
A press release from the school mentioned that Bhattacharjee’s dedication and services for the upliftment of society, especially in the field of education, will always be remembered by the people of Dimapur.
On the occasion, Priti Bhattacharya, a senior teacher, delivered a speech highlighting Bhattacharjee’s life and contributions, mentioning the establishment of Pranab Vidyapith Hr. Sec. School and Pranabananda Women’s College in Dimapur, as well as Pranab Vidyapith Hr. Sec. School and Pranab Jubilee College in Bokajan, Karbi Anglong, Assam.
AK Ray, vice principal of the school, delivered a keynote speech on Bhattacharjee’s life, career, and achievements, while Dilip Das, an assistant teacher, presented a poem from Gitanjali written by Rabindranath Tagore.
Sarmistha Mukherjee, a senior teacher, also performed a song composed by Tagore and dedicated it to Bhattacharjee.
