Poloi FC, AIM Khabam advance in 14th Shaheed Manoranjan football tourney
IMPHAL — Poloi Football Club, Chingarel, and Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam, both from Imphal East district, advanced to the next round on the third day of the 14th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Complex in Takyelpat, Imphal, on Wednesday.
In the first match of the day, Poloi Football Club secured a 3-2 victory over NFA Porompat in Imphal East district. In the second match, AIM Khabam defeated the SAI team from Takyel, Imphal West district, by a 4-3 margin in a penalty shootout.
The goals for Poloi were scored in the 24th, 37th, and 71st minutes by MD Nawaz, Chanam Alash Meitei, and MD Nawaz, respectively. NFA scored their goals in the 45th+2 and 89th minutes, with Soibam Ayangba and Thangjam Ibungo finding the net
The 14th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial State Level Open Football Tournament is being organised by 143 Bn CRPF, Lamphelpat, under the aegis of IGP, Manipur and Nagaland, CRPF, from February 5 to 21 in collaboration with the All Manipur Football Association and the Imphal West District Football Association.
On the fourth day of the tournament, the first match is scheduled to be played between FCR Noney and MPSC Pangei Imphal at 10 am. The second match will be played between WAFA Wangoi Imphal and TRAU Youth Team Imphal at 1 pm.
