Dimapur, Feb. 28 (EMN): PHED minister, Jacob Zhimomi, along with the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo, PHED executive engineer Kitoshe Sumi and host of government officials responsible for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) visited Melahumi and Shevishe villages under Tokiye RD block in under Aghunato sub-division on February 26.
JJM is a flagship programme of Narendra Modi’s government to provide functional household tap connection (FHTC) to all households in India by 2024, a DIPR report stated.
It stated that the minister took time to interact with the FHTC beneficiaries during his visit. It added that public leaders and GBs of Lizutomi and Satami villages also came to share their need for safe drinking water with the minister at Melahumi village where a public gathering was organised.
The minister, in his short speech, thanked the villages of Melahumi and Lizutomi for generously allowing the department to tap water from Bobohu stream for drinking water supply to Zunheboto district headquarters. He also visited the 150 mm dia. gravity mainline of ongoing augmentation of water supply to Zunheboto town phase-2 and the existing water treatment plant at Melahumi village.
Besides, the minister held an executive meeting with officials from PHED department and civil administration of Zunheboto district regarding the execution of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ under JJM. He encouraged the officers to execute the work by supervising personally and to be stationed in designated places of posting.
