DIMAPUR — Phek Government College (PGC), in collaboration with the District Election Office, celebrated literary day-cum-youth voters’ festival at Deo Nukhu Hall, PGC, on Friday.

The event was organised by the Literary and Performing Art Club and revolved around the theme ‘Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies,” a DIPR report stated.

Konyak said apart from saturation of government jobs, lack of opportunities in private and industrial sectors are some factors behind youth unemployment.

He emphasised the need for students to consider the relevance of their education and not to simply pursue degrees for the sake of it.

Vedulu Thingo, assistant professor and convenor of the Literary and Performing Art Club, also spoke on the occasion.

The celebration included a debate on the topic ‘Clean election for 13th NLA 2023: Success or failure.’

Various competitions including fancy dress show, solo, extempore, quiz and painting on the theme ‘Clean Election and youth participation,” were conducted.

The festival was held with an aim to promote literacy, civic awareness and active youth participation in the electoral processes, it stated.
