Penthrill launches Angami folktale book ‘Ukepenuopfü’

Kohima, July 26 (EMN): ‘Ukepenuopfü’ – an Angami folktale reimage, written by T Keditsu was on Tuesday released by CEO of Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), Alemtemshi Jamir, at Kohima College conference room.

The book was the 60th publication of the Penthrill Publication House.

Speaking at the launch event, Jamir was of the view that the book is not only a children’s book but contains deeper meanings. Commending the author, he also made a reference to the symbolism used by the author and said that folklore can help children grow.

The author, T Keditsu, is the pen name of Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu, who is a feminist, poet, academic, folklorist, writer and educator and had earlier authored two poetry books – Sopfünuo and Wake.

She advocated the revival of indigenous Naga textiles and women’s narratives through her popular Instagram avatar @Mekhalamama, currently is an assistant professor at Kohima College Kohima.

Keditsu said ‘Ukepenuopfü’ is a folktale that has transformed her life.

Publisher of Penthrill Publication House, Vishu Rita Krocha, said the book is not only a children’s book but takes the readers to many fascinating moments of being absorbed in stories of wonder.

She also stated the wonders of a children’s book was that it enabled a person’s mind to see the intangible world.

Thanksgiving prayer was offered by Levino Yhoshu and the launch programme was led by Dr. Ketoukhrieu, assistant professor of Kohima College, Kohima.
