PDSA 36th meet: Centre Chakhesang Sports Association lift PDSA football trophy

Thenyizumi, March 27 (EMN): Centre Chakhesang Sports Association (CASA) defeated Secheku team 2-1 to lift the men’s football trophy match on the last day of the 36th Phek district Sports Association (PDSA) meet at Thenyizumi village on Saturday.

The first goal was made by Mutunu Therie of Centre Chakhesang in the 38th minute. However, the opponent’s Secheku team wasted no time to equalise the scoreline when Tshezokhro Rhakho scored in the 39th minute; and the first-half ended with 1-1.

After the break, both the teams clashed keeping a tight game with counter attacks. Yet in the 48th minute, a goal scored by Centre Chakhesang’s Veyi D Vadeo proved decisive for the team to emerge victorious.

CAGSA group champions

Chokri Area Games and Sports Association (CAGSA) were the group champions with 28 medals (10 gold, 12 silver, six bronze) followed by Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) with 18 medals (nine gold, four silver, five bronze).

Individual awards

In individual awards, Reo Mero (Khezha-khuzha) and Lishini Dukru were awarded most valuable player (MVP) in men and women’s basketball.

While, Razounelu Tetseo and Tavelu Tetseo of Centre Chakhesang, Kuvelu Medeo of Tizu area and Dzupono Venuh were the highest scorers, Khrolou T Mero of Secheku team was the best player and Murhelu Venuh was awarded the golden glove in women’s football.

Khwetelhi Thopi was the highest scorer, Wetsokhro Thopi was the best player, both from Secheku team and Botho Venuh of Centre Chakhesang was awarded the golden glove in men’s football.

Meanwhile, Kukalhu Nyekha of CAGSA, Zavepra Nienu of CASA were best player and best setter respectively in men’s volleyball; and Zuniekholu Khamo of CAGSA and Zuvevolu Rhakho of CASA were adjudged as best player and best setter in women’s volleyball.

Khezha-khuzha team and Sekruzu area were adjudged as best disciplined teams in the week-long PDSA 36th meet inaugurated on March.

The prizes were given away by the Football Association Phek District (FAPD) president Colo Mero;  FAPD vice president and also Phek SP Vesupra Kezo; State Wrestling Coach, Chisazo Dawhuo and State secretary BJP, Zaveyi Kezo during the closing ceremony.
