DIMAPUR — Stressing on the importance on wood-based industries to improve the overall economy of the state while being able to provide the raw materials sustainably without harming the environment, Dhramendra Prakash, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF), held a series of meetings with stakeholders of the saw-veener-ply mills, furniture units, MSME, industries and NIDC on October 18 and 19 at Forest Office Complex Dimapur.

Prakash emphasised on making Nagaland a major brand in wood and wood products as the state is blessed with abundant natural resources. He has stressed the need to tap those resources, value add, create the brand and export at national and international levels.

An update from Forest department stated that various issues were discussed to bring about achievable goals to improve the economy of the state while creating ample employment opportunities in the field of wood-based sector.

Prakash was accompanied by N Senthil Kumar, APCCF, and Zuthunglo Patton, CF (STC) Nagaland.

The PCCF & HoFF later held a meeting with all the forest officers, executive and ministerial staff based in Dimapur. He exhorted the members to perform duty with best of their ability while keeping fit and being healthy.

It stated that issues and problems related to service were highlighted by the staff, wherein the PCCF & HoFF were assured to look into the matter and resolved them.

The meetings were chaired by Beizo Suokhrie, DFO Dimapur, where a host of senior officers of the department, MSME, industries and NIDC were also present.
