Awareness programme on cybercrime held at Baptist College Kohima

DIMAPUR — The legal aid committee of Baptist College, Kohima, organised an awareness programme on cybercrime and social media on Wednesday at Rivenburgs Chapel Hall, Kohima.

According to a press release, Apila Sangtam, the resource person and panel lawyer at Nagaland State Legal Service Authority, highlighted what cybercrime is all about and cited cyber theft as the most common cybercrime.

She addressed the issue of social security and talked about the impact of social media. She also discussed cyber laws pertaining to cybercrime, data privacy and protection, electronic and digital signatures, and intellectual property.

She informed the students that they could report a crime to the cybercrime cell at any police station or call helpline number 1930 (financial frauds) for assistance.

She challenged the students to be aware, educated, and good stewards of social media platforms.

Altogether, 170 attendees were part of the programme.
