Kohima, April 27 (EMN): The Directorate of School Education (DoSE) had allowed schools to conduct normal/offline classes for students of pre-primary to Class 12 starting from April 1, following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions from the state, but some educational institutions are said to be still holding classes on alternate days.
Sources informed Eastern Mirror that some government and private schools in Kohima were still following odd-even system of attendance, allowing students to attend classes only on alternate days.
Many parents and guardians have expressed concern over the education of their children and wards as some schools are still yet to conduct regular in-person classes.
However, sources said that a few schools had resumed normal classes in the last couple of days.
Meanwhile, Principal Director of School Education, Shanavas C, told this newspaper that “the order is very clear” and assured that the schools would be reminded again to start regular offline classes.
It may be recalled that following the Home Department’s order on March 31, 2022, the School Education department had issued a notification allowing schools to start normal classes.
“However, as a measure of abundant caution, all are strongly advised to continue adhering to Covid-19 appropriate behaviour, which are wearing of facemasks in public places, regular washing of hands by soap and water or sanitiser, maintaining physical distancing, among others, at all times and while carrying out every activity,” read the notification issued by the DoSE.
Further, it advised everyone above 12 years of age to get fully vaccinated against Covid-19, if not done yet, and if the precautionary dose is due, to take it at the earliest moment.
