DIMAPUR — Nagaland University has announced that the NCC cadets selected for Pre-Republic Day Camp (RDC) and Republic Day Parade 2024 to be held at New Delhi would be exempted from attending the semester exams scheduled in November and December 2023.

A notification released by the University stated that: ‘NCC cadets who are shortlisted to attend Pre Republic Day Camp scheduled from 30-11-2023 and on selection to attend Republic Day Camp till 31-01-2024, are exempted to appear in the forthcoming Under-Graduate odd semester examination 2023.’

It stated that a special examination would be conducted by the university for the affected students/ NCC cadets at a later date. It added that students/ NCC cadets shortlisted to attend the said camp would be allowed to take provisional admission to the next semester.

Sharing the information, Col. CST Swamy, commanding officer of 25 Naga Battalion NCC, stated that the long-standing request by the NCC fraternity has been fulfilled by Nagaland University. He has thanked Prof. JK Patnaik, vice chancellor of NU, for accepting the request and enabling the NCC cadets to excel in NCC activities.

Col. Swamy stated that the Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantonment and Republic Day Parade on ‘Kartavya Path’ are the most coveted NCC training events in which every NCC cadet aspires to take part. However, he stated that due to the NU semester exams falling in November and December every year, aspirants from Nagaland have been missing out on the opportunities to attend even those camps.

He stated that the exemption would enable talented Naga students to display their skills at the national/ international levels. He added that the selected NCC cadets would get an opportunity to take part in the youth exchange programme, which is attended by friendly countries.

The NCC youth exchange programme is conducted with countries such as USA, UK, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Nepal, Vietnam, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles and New Zealand.
