NST, BBC win as Winter Cricket Challenge resumes after New Year break

DIMAPUR — The NST Cricket Club defeated WDCA CC with a huge margin at the ongoing 28th Winter Cricket Challenge organised by Senior Noble Klan under the aegis of Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) in association with Wokha Forest Division.

Playing the first match as the event resumed after the New Year break, the NST Cricket Club elected to bat first after winning the toss and set a target of 188 runs for loss just 1 wicket in 20 overs, helped by Santsuthung Ngullie (83) and Mhondamo (82).

Chasing a huge target, wickets of WDCA CC fell like a house of cards with only player (Chuponthung with 10 runs) reaching the double figure mark and lose the match by 137 runs. The team lost 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Ngullie was adjudged the Man of the Match for his 83 runs knock, informed an update received here on Tuesday.

In the second match, Mavericks CC elected to bat first against BBC Cricket Club, after winning the toss and set a target of 121 runs in 20 overs for loss of all wickets. Opener Lirenthung Murry scored 59 runs, Tsenpon 13 and Renchio Odyuo 14 to help the team put up a decent score on the board.

However, BBC Cricket Club comfortably chased down the target in the 17th over and won the match by 7 wickets. Kudan’s quick fire of 75 runs helped the team win the match, for which he was adjudged the Man of the Match. Opener Yanrenthung Ngullie also scored 17 runs for the team, it was informed.
