NSF Trophy: Medziphema Royal FC, Patkai Christian College win debut matches

KOHIMA — On the third day of the ongoing 23rd NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy, organised by the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, Medziphema Royal FC and Patkai Christian College cruised past for their debut matches.

Medziphema Royal FC demonstrated their dominance in the opening match of the day, defeating Fixate FC 3-1.

Visalie Mezhü (10) scored the game’s first goal just two minutes in, setting the tone for victory. While Mangal Gurung (13) extended their lead with goals in the fifth and eighth minutes, Seiminthang (4) sealed the victory with a goal in the 80+3 minute.

Fixate FC’s lone goal came from the boots of Shamba Samson.

Mangal Gurung and Rokolhoukho of Medziphema Royal FC, as well as Along Daniel and Jenpu Kent of Fixate FC, were cautioned for unsporting behaviour during the intense match.

Patkai Christian College (PCC) defeated Pro_D FC with 4-0 goals in the second match.

Enebe Thopi (30) of PCC opened the scoring in the 13th minute and later doubled his tally with a goal in the 73rd minute, while Lengpan Konyak (22) added another goal for PCC in the 32nd minute.

Pro_D FC, on the other hand, inadvertently contributed to PCC’s victory with an own goal by Akito A Yeptho in the 10th minute.

Meanwhile, Ningpao Khiam of PCC received a red card in the 70th minute for foul play, while Zeks Mere of Pro_D FC was cautioned for unsporting behaviour.

Thursday’s Matches:

11:30 am – N.K Brothers VS A.Yhome FC

1:30 pm – Reipicüzie FC, Mezoma vs. United FC, Piphema.
