NSF Trophy: Liangmai FC beats New Market FC 1-0, enters final
KOHIMA — Liangmai FC defeated defending champion New Market FC 1-0 to advance to the 23rd NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy final, with Lamsanggin Hangsing scoring the game-winning goal.
Hangsing’s lone goal of the match in the 87th minute ended the former champion’s run on Wednesday in the first semi-final match at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Kohima.
New Market FC had several chances to score, but they all fell short. The team’s dominance was clear in the first half, while Liangmai FC could not make an impression until the second half.
However, Hangsing’s goal proved decisive, as it turned the tide of the game and sealed both teams’ fates for the season.
Hangsing was later named player of the match by Kezhaleo Rülho, a first class contractor and match patron for the first semi-final.
