KOHIMA — On the eighth day of the ongoing 23rd NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy, the Angami Students Union (ASU), Jakhama Youth Organisation, and Teima Khe Kidima delivered commanding performances.

Jakhama Youth Organisation (JYO) defeated Meriema Village Youth Organisation (MVYO) 4-2 in the first match.

Avito Khieya (15) set the tone for the JYO team with an early strike in the eighth minute, which was doubled by Shürhosül Zhotso (9) in the 49th minute. Rokovikho Khatso (11) and Mechievizo Khatso (13) scored in the 54th and 56th minutes, respectively, bringing the total to four.

Unfortunately, Panger Sunep (2) of JYO scored an own goal and opened the score sheet for MVYO in the 73rd minute, while Khrieneituo (10) of MVYO also found the net in the 87th minute, helping MVYO tally 2, but it was not enough to help MVYO rebound in the match.

JYO’s Avito Khieya (15) was named Man of the Match.

With the victory, Jakhama Youth Organisation will face F4C Academy in the pre-quarterfinals on October 2.

Meanwhile, Teima Khe Kidima dominated the Chedema Warriors FC 3-0 in the second match.

In a close match, neither team advanced in the first half. TKK returned to the court with vigour after the break, with Vizopa Phinyo (16) finding the net in the 51st minute to open the account, which was doubled by Pupisa Pucho (12) in the 58th minute, and the third goal was made by Kenopol Thokwe (11) in the 61st minute.

Kenopol Thokwe’s outstanding performance earned him the man of the match award, which was presented by former ASU executive Zekuseto Natso.
