NSF felicitates Naga toppers in HSLC and HSSLC exams
KOHIMA — The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Friday felicitated the Naga toppers in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations 2024 during in a programme held at Capital Convention Centre in Kohima.
Addressing the event as special guest, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, advisor of School Education and SCERT, said that success does not come easily and that successful people have a different immunity. He advisor pointed out that Naga society still considers the accomplishments of children as above the wealth or status of parents.
While asserting that Nagas are hungry for success, Yhome said the presence of UPSC topper, Tolino Chishi, in the programme would definitely serve as an inspiration to the school toppers. He exuded hope that the toppers would become professionals in various fields and contribute to the society and the world at large.
He also underscored the need to appreciate diversity among the people in order to achieve cohesiveness with confidence and to pursue a new path to define the future.
Yhome further highlighted the paradigm shift in education which presently encompasses a huge horizon including emotional literacy and financial literacy, among others, while reminding that only education can set a person free.
In his presidential address, Medovi Rhi advised the students not to be egoistic but to lead a life of humility.
The NSF president also congratulated the roles played by the parents in the educational journey and for being a pillar of strength to the students.
Pointing out to the rapidly evolving nature of the world, he asked the students to adapt and be innovative in order to navigate the complexities of the future with determination while pursuing their dreams.
On the occasion, Tolino Chishi, UPSC 2024 topper (AIR 431), who also shared her experience on the preparation for the examination, underscored the importance of planning ahead and staying organised besides doing research. Accrediting God’s grace, she also acknowledged the role played by her parents throughout her exam journey.
Advising the students to be hard working and strive towards bigger goals, Chishi also said the students should have set plans, give their best and believe in themselves.
She further stressed on the importance of having a curious mind and to use technology wisely and responsibly.
A speech on behalf of toppers was delivered by Mhachilo Yanthan, HSLC topper (rank 1), while a special prayer was said by Khekavi K Yeptho, pastor of Sumi Baptist Church, Kohima.
The programme was led by Pithungo Shitio, the federation’s publicity and information secretary, while vote of thanks was proposed by Kenilo Kent, asst. general secretary.
On the occasion, 46 HSLC and 22 HSSLC toppers under Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) and two Naga HSSLC toppers from Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) were felicitated.
