Dimapur: President of National People’s Party, Nagaland State, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, maintained that the state NPP has shown an upward trend since 2017 and that the party has been successful in representing the people’s cause despite all the odds.
Ahoto was addressing the first annual general meeting of the NPP Nagaland unit for the year 2023 at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on March 30, stated an update from NPP Nagaland.
Ahoto also said that despite many challenges, upheavals and turmoils in the past, he and his team were able to take forward the principles of the party with utmost loyalty and integrity, even when the party had no MLAs and without much help or resources.
He encouraged the party members to remain committed to the party’s ethics and principles and to take the legacy of the party forward through coordinated efforts.
Congratulating the 5 MLAs of the party who won in the recently concluded state assembly election, the state NPP president also thanked the state government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for appointing one of the party’s MLAs, C Kipili Sangtam, as the chairman of DPDB, Kiphire.
The district units, represented by two members each, termed the success of the party as a hard earned one and thanked the state party leaders for their consistent trust upon the district units, which led them to work with more determination, it stated.
The meeting, chaired by state advisor, Thangkhokai Gangte, was attended by senior leaders led by the state president along with officials of the state women wing, state National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) and the district units.

Justin Lotha, general secretary (Admin) of NPYF, also gave a motivational talk on ‘Youth empowerment.’
During the business session, the house deliberated on current issues of the party including post-poll analysis, strengthening the party and various proposals to be sent to the party high command.
The house further resolved that there should not be any change of guard at the state level. Dr. Thungbeni Ngullie, president, state women wing, NPP, proposed vote of thanks.
