NLA will discuss Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act, says Nagaland Chief Minister Rio
KOHIMA — In the backdrop of political parties and civil society organisations opposing the implementation of the controversial Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act 2023, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said the state government will give a statement on the matter.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of an event in Kohima on Wednesday, August 30, Rio said the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) would discuss the Forest (Conservation) Amendment.
“We feel that we are protected; we are aware too that we are not included (in the Act),” he replied when asked about the government’s stand on the issue.
On LPG price cut
On the Centre’s decision to cut the price of cooking gas by INR 200 per cylinder for all domestic consumers and an additional subsidy of INR 200 for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries, the CM said: “Well it’s a government programme, giving benefits to the common man so, we are happy.”
Meanwhile, Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along said, ‘it is a Raksha Bandhan gift to the whole nation’ and a gesture of goodwill, friendship, safety, and security.
