KOHIMA — In a major relief to state government employees, the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Friday adopted a resolution for regularisation of services of those appointed prior to June 6, 2016.

The resolution for regularisation of employees meant for those in group A, B, C and D posts appointed prior to June 6, 2016 was introduced in the house on February 29 at the ongoing fourth session of the 14th NLA.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who moved the resolution for adoption said that the state, being a welfare state as guaranteed in the Constitution, is responsible to provide basic economic security to the citizens and to protect the livelihood of the employees working in any department.

Rio maintained that the cabinet in its decision vide CAB-1/14/2023, dated 9th February, 2024 had resolved to adopt a resolution to regularise group A, B, C and D employees appointed prior to June 6, 2016 and those appointed against sanctioned posts at the time of their appointment and have completed 10 years of service under the state government and whose appointments are not subjudice,

The policy was to carry out a one-time exercise for regularisation of the aforementioned groups of employees appointed on contractual or ad-hoc basis against sanctioned posts prior to June 6, 2016 and who have completed 10 years of service, by conducting a suitability test through which they may be regularised against the post they are occupying, provided they fulfill all the criteria as laid down in the policy.

Subsequently, the house unanimously adopted the resolution.
