Niuland, Tseminyu DPDB meetings held
DIMAPUR — The meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Niuland, took place on Monday in the conference hall of DC Niuland, under the chairmanship of DC and vice chairman of DPDB Niuland, Sarah S Jamir.
According to a DIPR report, in the session, the board unanimously decided to propose the inclusion of Niuland District in the Nagaland Special Development Zone (NSDZ) to the government.
The DC informed members that a similar proposal was made in 2014, but Niuland was not included in the NSDZ. She emphasised Niuland’s strategic geographical location, noting its proximity to the Foothill Road, the proposed Showuba-Pangsha two-lane road, and other important routes.
Regarding this, a meeting with stakeholders, including gaonburas, village councils, and landowners, was held to gain support. Jamir stated that the people of Niuland have agreed in principle to the district’s inclusion under NSDZ, emphasising the importance of development in the district.
Other important items on the agenda were the proposals of society registration for Zoe Theatre and Art Association at Nihoto village, the upgrade of Government Middle School, Zutoi, to government high school under the Aghunaqa circle, and the recognition of Anato village. The house recommended these to the higher authorities for the required action.
The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was highlighted by ADC Niuland, Athsangla Yimkhum, emphasising its role as a national awareness campaign to disseminate information on various schemes and enrol potential beneficiaries. The yatra for Niuland district is set to begin on December 20 and end on January 25, 2024.
During the meeting, a representative of the department of Health and Family Welfare presented a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the health profile activities in Niuland district, while the DC called for cooperation from all officers and appealed to district heads of departments holding dual charges to contribute equally, aiming to foster self-sufficiency in Niuland district.
Tseminyu: The DPDB Tseminyu meeting was also convened on Monday in the DC conference hall, under the chairmanship of DC Tseminyu and vice chairman of DPDB, Rohit Singh.
The agenda included discussions, such as the Rengma Senior Citizens Forum Tseminyu society registration, which was thoroughly examined and then forwarded to the relevant department for further action.
Additionally, an appeal was made to the DPDB, urging village councils to work with the power department to facilitate the clearing of jungle and vegetation along power line corridors. The chief engineer of the Power department submitted this proposal.
The meeting also focused on development action plans and proposals for the fiscal year 2024-2025.
