NGISRSC, NESAC organise session on geospatial applications

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland GIS and Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) and the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), Department of Space, Government of India, organised a user interaction session on the plan of action in geospatial applications on Thursday.

Conducted at the Training and Capacity Building Hub at NGISRSC, the session included a demonstration of the North East Spatial Data Repository (NESDR) and had the presence of R Ramakrishnan, Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner, according to a DIPR report.

During his address, Ramakrishnan encouraged the participating line departments to foster collaboration and harness the numerous advantages provided by space-based geospatial applications for the betterment of society.

Dr. Dibyajyoti Chutia, head of Geoinformatics and IT (GID) at NESAC, delivered a presentation on emerging technologies on the occasion. Also, he provided a live demonstration of the NESDR within a governance application, illustrating the practical application of cutting-edge technology.

Merenwapang, Deputy Project Director, NGISRSC, offered a detailed overview of Nagaland’s geospatial plan of action, while M Kithan, Project Director, in his opening remarks underscored the ongoing plan of action activities in collaboration with various line departments.

The event saw participation from a total of 15-line departments.
