DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANSCU) has requested the department and authority concerned to release the 2nd instalment of Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) to ST students of Nagaland for the year 2022-2023, before December 22.

In a press release, the student body stated that following its representation to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs last month, appealing for immediate release of the pending instalment of centrally sponsored scheme – PMS, an amount of INR 26,25,00,000 (INR 26.25 crore) was sanctioned on December 13 as arrears for the year 2022-2023 and 1st installment for the year 2023-2024.

While acknowledging the state government and the minister concerned for intervening into the matter, as well as the requisite procedure for withdrawal, the ANSCU requested the department “to immediately complete the withdrawal proceeding on exigency”, to ensure that the pending scholarship is disbursed to students before December 22.

“Consequent upon the failure of the department to disburse the Post Matric Scholarship within an aforesaid stipulated period, the ANCSU shall resort to any befitting democratic protest of the day,” cautioned the union.
