Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of overall development of Northeast & Nation Building, the first-ever Northeast Half Marathon will be conducted on February 5, 2023, at Maligaon, Guwahati.
A curtain raiser press conference in this regard was held on Friday at the Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA) indoor stadium, Maligaon, North Frontier Railway (NFR) informed in an update.
NFR has joined hands with Innovations India Pvt Ltd., to organise the Northeast Half Marathon, aimed at empowering sportspersons and development of sports infrastructure in Northeast India.
Anshul Gupta, GM/NFR along with president NFRSA, Rajeev Mahajan, gave insights about the event.
Curator of the event, Captain Rahul Bali briefed about the marathon, prize money and trophies to be awarded.
The first marathon of the planned series will be held at Maligaon on February 5, 2023, and approximately 3000 runners from all across India as well as abroad are expected to participate in the race.
Prizes worth INR 11 lakh would be given to the winners in addition to the trophies, medals and certificates.
Aspiring participants will be able to register both online as well as offline for the marathon. “The NE Half Marathon would highlight all states of Northeast India as one entity and would surely catapult the complete Northeast Region of India into limelight at both national and international platforms,” it stated.
The details regarding the half marathon will be published in all the social media platforms of NF Railway. A website related to the Northeast Half Marathon will be launched soon for online registration, it stated.
