NFR prohibits carrying of inflammable items in trains

DIMAPUR — With the onset of festival season, rush of passengers have increased across Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) stations.

The NFR in an update issued on Friday, urged all passengers to be extra careful with what they carry. It said that things including crackers, petrol and other inflammable materials pose risk to safety.

The NFR has been launching special campaigns on regular basis to sensitise passengers and public not to carry any inflammable items while travelling in trains.  All the concerned officials of NFR have been keeping strict vigil on passenger movements while travelling in train.

Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police apart from TTE’s, coach attendants, guards of the train, station managers are said to be monitoring strictly on offenders to save the train passengers from danger.

 ‘Carrying inflammable objects in trains is a punishable offence under Section 164 of the Railways Act, 1989 and the offender may be penalised with imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of INR 1,000 or both and shall be liable for any loss, injury or damage which may be caused by reason of bringing such goods on the railway,’ the update informed.

The NFR has appealed to all rail passengers not to carry any inflammable/explosive items and travel with utmost safety by not risking their lives carrying inflammable articles.
