KOHIMA — The Nepali Baptist Church Kohima is set to celebrate its golden jubilee from July 31 to August 2 at the church premises in Midland, Kohima, on the theme "...and forget not all His benefits" (Psalm 103:2).
According to the organisers, the church traces its origins to the first Nepali-speaking Christian convert in Nagaland, late Jodhbir Hamal, who embraced Christianity in 1959.
Despite facing social and religious barriers, he and fellow believers shared the Gospel, leading to the first outreach on August 3, 1976, a date now observed as the Church Foundation Day on the first Sunday of August each year.

The organisers stated that with the support of Union Baptist Church, Kohima, which is regarded as the mother church, and the dedication of pastors and members, the fellowship grew into the Nepali Baptist Church Kohima. Over the decades, the church overcame financial hardships, natural disasters, and social challenges while constructing places of worship and strengthening its ministry.
The church celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2001 with 726 registered, baptised members. As of April 5, the church has 1,656 registered baptised members.
