NCD inducts new team of office bearers

The newly elected members of NCD for 2020-2025 tenure after the installation programme in Dimapur on Saturday.

Dimapur, Aug. 22 (EMN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) on Saturday conducted an installation programme for the newly elected office bearers at NCD’s conference hall in Dimapur.

During the programme, a search commission report was presented by T L Merry, chairman of selection commission for NCD new office bearers. A total of 30 new councillors took oath, an update informed.

The incoming president, K Ghokheto Chophy, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing president T Bangerloba for being a ‘role model and an inspiration.’ He lauded his effort and role played during his five year tenure. He also encouraged the new councillors to carry out the unfinished task for the interest of NCD in particular and citizens of Dimapur in general.

The outgoing president also delivered a speech. Prayer for the new team and councillors was pronounced by Yanbemo Lotha, associate pastor of Lotha Baptist Church Dimapur.

In accordance and in conformity under relevant section of the constitution of NCD, the search commission as authorised and empowered on completion of satisfactory verification, impartial examination and threadbare discussion unanimously elected K Ghokheto Chophy as president, Etsungmomo Kikon – vice-president (adm), G.K Rengma- vice-president (council bench), Thsapongkyu Sangtam – general secretary, Ponghok Phom – joint secretary, Gangang-Pou – joint secretary, M Sapong Chang – finance secretary, and Luola-O Usou – treasurer.

New councillors reject selection commission’s report

The new councillors have rejected the report presented by the selection commission during the installation proggramme of new councillors on August 22.

In a press release issued by Vekhosayi Nyekha on behalf of new councillors stated that the selection commission whose constitution and existence is in dispute and awaiting judgement from the court of law has ‘forcefully’ gave its report and for which the new councillors have rejected it. It said the court has fixed September 10 for hearing.
