DIMAPUR — NCC cadets attending the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) at St. Joseph University in Chümoukedima witnessed a weapon display organised by Assam Rifles on Thursday.

According to a press release, the cadets were trained in handling and shooting with the 0.22′ sporting rifle, while the Assam Rifles team explained the capabilities and characteristics of the weapons to them.

The cadets, dressed in ceremonial regalia, also performed a ‘guard of honour’ in the decorated ‘quarter guard’ erected by the cadets at the camp site. Meanwhile, an Assam Rifles officer gave a career guidance lecture, outlining opportunities and recruitment avenues in the armed forces.

The CATC is being organised by the 25 Nagaland Batallion NCC, Mokokchung, under the aegis of the NCC Group Headquarters, Kohima, with NCC cadets from schools and colleges throughout Nagaland.

The camp marks the culmination of the year-long institutional training and aims to hone the skills of the cadets in PT, drill, weapon training, map reading, field craft, battle craft, tent pitching, and cultural activities.
