DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) organised an online training programme titled ‘School Leadership for Inclusive Education’ on October 10. It was attended by 407 heads of registered institutions under NBSE.
The event was focused on the essential aspects of inclusion and inclusive education from the perspective of school leaders.
An update from the NBSE informed that inclusive education is a transformative approach that values the diversity of learners, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background, abilities, or characteristics, receives equitable opportunities to learn and thrive within the educational system.
This, it said, aligns with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises inclusive education as a cornerstone for educational reforms, aiming to foster a society that nurtures the potential of every learner.
Ummeed Child Development Centre (Ummeed CDC) and Keystone Education Society collaborated as resource agencies for the session. Ummeed CDC, a non-profit organisation, is known for its work in the field of children with disabilities.
Similarly, Keystone Education Society, another non-profit organisation, works to facilitate inclusion in educational institutions by providing support to students with learning disabilities, aiming to provide equal learning opportunities for diverse learners with various skills, abilities, and backgrounds, the update stated.
The two-hour session featured resource persons who provided essential insights into inclusivity and inclusive education, equipping school leaders with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to foster inclusivity within their institutions.
The session underscored that inclusion is a collective commitment to ensuring education for all. Participants also engaged in discussions about the difficulties and challenges faced by schools in their pursuit of inclusivity.
The training programme concluded with participants making a collective call to collaborate and achieve inclusivity in education.
